LolliShops Support Group

Your place to speak freely about LS.

Hello lovely ladies!

Yes. I finally sold something. See, what I did yesterday was, moved all of my Lollishop listings OUT of my Lollishop store. Items that had been sitting there since the end of November with no sales--which was all of them. I haven't sold a blasted thing on that site! I moved them over to my Etsy store yesterday and sold a higher end vintage bracelet within hours of putting it up.

So, just goes to show you (as if we needed any more proof) that Lollishops is not what it could be. And that's being too kind. If there's anyone reading this who's hanging on like I was...don't. Just move on. You'll do much better elsewhere.

xoxo

I'm hanging on because I'm in an upcoming ad and feel funny doing that and not having a shop. I haven't sold anything yet either.

Good for you.
It is a shame that you lost 5 months on that site, but at least now you are on the right track. Good luck to you.

I never got one sale on LS, while I get 100s on Etsy and many on my website.

If you do that, you might want to think about referring them to your Etsy store, where the product looks better and the whole site isn't such a turn off to navigate.

All my items in my LS are in my Etsy shop so I just keep removing them from my LS when they sell on Etsy, Jan and Feb were good sales months for me there.
I did get an email from someone at Stampington who noticed my item in one of the LS ads and asked if I would be interested in submitting my work for their Somerset Home publication, maybe if that comes about maybe I'll finally get some sales at LS!

Congratulations on your sale!!

When my items on LS just sat there, I decided to try listing them on Etsy as well, and one by one they started selling. When I left LS and moved the remainder of my items to Etsy, everything sold.

I am very happy to be devoting my time to a place that actually WORKS. LS will never work. People might piddle around and sell a few things here and there, mostly to each other, till it reaches an agonizing death, but it will never be the site it could have been, had it proper management and level headed business decisions.

I'm also hanging on because i paid for two ads. My items are easy to make and duplicate but I also haven't sold anything since before Christmas. I really don't know what to do and I just found this site!

Bluebird,

I also got noticed by Stampingotn Home and I submitted my items and was contacted by an editor that I will be in the August issue. so I can say that at least something exciting has come about being there! I have to fill out the questionnaire this weekend and will add my Etsy shop to it.

I haven't sold a thing on Lolli and I"m not getting many views either :P So far the only benefit has been the opportunity to advertise at a rate I can afford!

Rosita,

I made a mistake when I said Stampington Home. The magazine I meant to say is Somerset Home. It's a publication that's usually in craft stores like Joann's. Stampington is the parent company and Somerset are their magazines. There are several that I know of: Somerset Life comes out four x a year, Somerset Home (that I'm going to have my signs in) comes out once a year. There is also Somerset Studio (the original), there's a photography one, and several others. They are great publications! Nice things in it not cutesy!

Thanks Bluebird and congratulations to you too! You have a lovely shop and I love your pillows!

I have a questionnaire attached to the email that I have to fill out by April 24th and they want some basic info. I'm also going to add my Etsy shop. In the questionnaire they do want some "how to" information but not much of a bio. I'm kind of glad about that and I don't know just how large of a picture I'll have in the magazine. I was told it would be in the gallery section.

Anyway this is a first for me and just having my signs in their publications is VERY exciting even if it may only be a small photo. Great free publicity too!

Bluebird,

Well I just filled the questionnaire and forwarded to Amanda at Somerset.

One of the questions was how did I get inspired to make the piece. Since it's three of my mini signs that will be featured I was honest and mentioned that I had to make up a press kit for Lollishops (the Silver Bellas we were all so excited about) and decided to create a sign small enough to fit into a small cello bag. I did mention that my Etsy shop is my primary shop (it always was and will continue to be unless I create my own site) and if they only have room for one web address to use that one.

I still don't know what to do with my Lollishop and it continues to stagnate. I don't have time or energy to promote it and I really don't do a lot of promoting for Etsy either, so as I said it stagnates but it seems like the same thing is happening to everyone else who remains there. It's just really a shame about Lollishops! It was such a wonderful idea but I was so disappointed when the guild was shut down.

I have not noticed the new fee structure and will have to check it out.I think I'm missing something though.... What is the LS social networking site? Link please!
