Your place to speak freely about LS.

I received an email yesterday inviting me to visit a web-site ~ nothing unusual there as I'm sure anyone who spends as much time on-line knows. Being the curious person I am, I visited the web-site and I was quite happy to read that the site is one of purpose. The web-site, Enchanted Makeovers peaked my interest for several reasons so I looked around and was impressed with the purpose of the organization and very excited to see that they are involved with some very dear to my heart. Hope Chests

Enchanted Makeovers is an organization that has formed to help those who find themselves in the unfortunate circumstance of having to live in a shelter. As a part of their mission, the organization selects a shelter for an Enchanted Makeover and recruits others to help not just as a monetary resource, but calls upon the talents of anyone offering to help. From painting walls and hanging wood trims to painting wall murals, the organization is doing many things to make a shelter more like a home.

What tugged at me was that a gentleman has volunteered to make and donate 2 Hope Chests to them and are looking to obtain more. They also are looking for donations to fill these Chests for girls transitioning from the shelter to places of their own.

Operation Lift-Off

To me, a Hope Chest has always been a magical, special part of a young girls life and a tradition that has more or less become a part of the past. The excitement of obtaining special items and lovingly storing them with that vision of the future when they will be used can offer great hopes and dreams for these girls.
I am thrilled to see this tradition being re-newed and excited to help the organization fill these Hope Chests. As a long time lover of The Hope Chest and things stored in them, I am more than happy to share my love for this lost part of the past and hope these young girls will be able to realize their visions for each and every item they carefully store inside their very own Hope Chest.

I hope you will take a moment to view the web-site and if you can help in any small way, I encourage you to prepare a care package.

A Hope Chest or sometimes just known as a cedar chest was what a young girl would fill with items that she intented to use in her new home upon marriage. It would be filled with household items including sheets, pillow cases, blankets, dishes, cutlery and any other items that would be used to start out in a new home.

Some still do have Hope Chests, but as I said, the tradition is not one so common these days.
